{"id":838,"date":"2012-07-06T23:21:29","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T21:21:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/?p=838"},"modified":"2013-02-04T23:49:59","modified_gmt":"2013-02-04T22:49:59","slug":"another-show-another-audition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/tv\/another-show-another-audition","title":{"rendered":"Another show, another audition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last December I won the third prize in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/events\/the-best-christmas-cake-in-saint-jean-cap-ferrat.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Christmas cake contest<\/a> and this got me a nice <strong>call from the casting office<\/strong> of a new French <strong>TV show about pastry<\/strong>. It will be a competition like Masterchef, but a bit less stressful. The format is taken from the UK show &#8220;<strong>The Great British Bake Off<\/strong>&#8221; of which I have seen several episodes on YouTube.<\/p>\n<p>Needless to say I was excited because I was offered <strong>a preferential lane to audition for the show<\/strong>! I just had to bring a cake of my choice to <strong>Marseille<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And to Marseille I went, and showed them this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspberry-tart.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-839\" alt=\"Raspberry tart\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspberry-tart.jpg\" width=\"960\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspberry-tart.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspberry-tart-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; a<strong> rhubarb and lemon tart with fresh raspberries<\/strong> (indecently copied from <strong>Lenotre<\/strong>, but you&#8217;ve got to start somewhere).<\/p>\n<p>I was very pleased with the result, and so was the lady who interviewed me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Interviewed me&#8221;, right&#8230; as any respectable audition, there was <strong>a (filmed!) interview<\/strong> that started quite well and then degenerated with <strong>bizarre questions<\/strong>! \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m still <strong>not 100% fluent in French<\/strong>, but \u00e7a va, I can understand and make the others understand me: but if somebody asks you <em>&#8220;In the kitchen, what noise would you be?<\/em>&#8220;, I assume it is legitimate to think <em>&#8220;Did I understand well? Did she really say that?&#8221;<\/em>. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p>In the end, <strong>I hesitated a bit<\/strong> with questions like this and threw some <strong>silly answers<\/strong> on the table (the questions were not that clever either), so I really don&#8217;t know how the audition went.<\/p>\n<p>I will have <strong>the answer in two weeks<\/strong>, fingers crossed!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last December I won the third prize in a Christmas cake contest and this got me a nice call from the casting office of a new French TV show about pastry.
