I wanted one, a chocolate one!, but after my shopping, at lunchtime, ALL galettes were gone. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>Luckily enough, a few minutes before, a lady in a boulangerie made me taste their <strong>brioche des roi<\/strong>s: it was amazingly good and very <strong>soft<\/strong>, so I went back there and brought one home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brioche-des-rois.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-631\" alt=\"brioche-des-rois\" src=\"http:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brioche-des-rois.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brioche-des-rois.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.roadtopastry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/brioche-des-rois-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The brioche des rois (&#8220;brioche of the kings&#8221;) is another <strong>Epiphany cake<\/strong>, typical of the <strong>south of France<\/strong>, unlike the galette des rois, which comes originally from the North.<\/p>\n<p>It is quite straightforward the this donut-shaped brioche recalls <strong>a king&#8217;s crown<\/strong>, with precious gems on top as well (i.e. candied fruits).<\/p>\n<p>After having tasted both, I can say that for me the <strong>soft brioche wins on the dry galette<\/strong>! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I will try this weekend to make the brioche dough&#8230; (it is also required for my pastry exam!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I went in downtown Cannes and saw many nice galettes des rois in different flavours.
