I haven’t published a “pastry review<\/strong>” in a while, but\u00a0I still have to talk about a pastry shop I visited during a tour of the south of France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And this one… is definitely one of the best shops<\/strong> I’ve found in all the cities I’ve visited: it’s called “Hawecker<\/strong>” and it can be found\u00a0in the sleepy<\/del> town of Ch\u00e2teaurenard<\/strong>, not far from\u00a0Avignon<\/strong>, the charming Papal Town.<\/p>\n

Mr Hawecker<\/strong> is a Meilleur Ouvrier de France<\/strong>, and in case you don’t know what that means, that title is a guarantee of super high quality and craft<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Anyway,\u00a0even if you don’t know that title, as soon as you enter his shop you realize he’s no ordinary pastry chef<\/strong>. The shop design is very elegant and modern<\/strong> with nice and colourful products on display.<\/p>\n

It was a real surprise to me to see that, despite the high quality of products, the prices<\/strong> of individual cakes and chocolate were very moderate<\/strong>. 3\u20ac for these\u00a0individual cakes… is not a deal, it’s a steal! \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n

The chocolates<\/strong> are the real gem of this boutique: Hawecker makes them in many different flavours<\/strong>, including a special collection of tea-flavoured ganache<\/strong> ones, made especially for the Japanese customers. I tasted\u00a0many chocolates and they were all amazing<\/strong>, definitely some of the best I’ve ever tried!!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Moreover, the shop assistant helped me choose wisely<\/strong> and she knew everything about the product (that is not so common!). Shopping at Hawecker (and eating chocolates) was indeed a very pleasant experience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although\u00a0the shop is a bit remotely located (ok, it’s just 20 minutes away from the Papal Town, but the shop itself was my only reason to go to Ch\u00e2teaurenard), it should be a mandatory stop for all pastry lovers visiting Avignon<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
